The winners of the National TVET Awards 2019 revealed

The Millennium Foundation has organized the National TVET Awards 2019 for the third consecutive year. The winners in the four categories were revealed and awarded. Khatia Nadareishvili, a student of culinary arts from the college Mermisi became the TVET Student of the Year and Archil Tsintsadze, a guide instructor from Adventure Tourism School became the winner in the category of the TVET Teacher of the Year. LEPL college Information Technologies Academy has been announced as the TVET Provider of the Year and JSC Energo-Pro received the title of the TVET Business Partner of the Year.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Kelly Degnan, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, Ran Gidor, Ambassador of Israel to Georgia, Zurab Kervalishvili, Director of Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation and Magda Magradze, CEO of Millennium Foundation delivered the opening remarks at the gala ceremony.

Besides the main categories, a special prize was awarded by the Ambassador of Israel, who awarded a personal computer and a laptop to Valentina Zibzivadze, an electrician from college Phazisi. In addition, the Millennium Foundation has awarded public college Spectri with a certificate of Appreciation for strong cooperation and partnership.

"I am very glad that the competition that we initiated three years ago is getting popular each year and the number of participants is increasing annually. Improving the image of vocational education and strengthening the public-private partnerships in TVET is one of the priorities of our organization as strong vocational education contributes to the economic development of the country", - stated Magda Magradze, CEO of the Millennium Foundation.

This model proves that joint effort can contribute to the development of vocational education and make it more popular", - declared Zurab Kervalishvili, general director of Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, a general sponsor of the competition.

The National TVET Awards supports the sustainability of projects implemented within the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation II Compact. The aim of the competition is to improve the image of vocational education by showcasing the success stories and best examples of TVET provider, teacher, student and business partner.
