Millennium Foundation has launched the Millennium Innovations Award for 2022. The first winning team takes part in the summer camp of the Space Center University at NASA, USA. The second and third prize winners also participate in the international STEM programs/ or receive special prizes.
The students who want to participate in the competition must be born between the period of April 2, 2005 through April 1, 2009. The competition is possible in teams: minimum number of members is 2, maximum - 5. The participant teams must submit their innovative projects in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines in the following sub-categories: Space and Aviation, Robotics, Applied Technologies and Applications, Environment, Healthcare and Nutrition.
Millennium Innovations Award has been organized since 2014 with the financial support of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia and in collaboration with various sponsors. MIA aims to promote STEM education and innovations among the Georgian youth. Over 2,000 students have participated in the competition since the program was launched.
The traditional partners of the competition are Georgian Innovations and Technology Agency (GITA) and Sakpatenti. Since 2022, Liberty Bank has become an official partner of the competition. The program is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
The aim of the Millennium Innovations Award is to identify, through a national competition, three winning teams that present innovative projects in the fields of technology, engineering, and science. The submitted projects is evaluated by the independent evaluation panel.
MIA fosters innovative ideas and increases youth's motivation and interest in STEM disciplines. MIA encourages youth to think innovatively and provides unique opportunity to match project winners with successful scientists and business sector to promote partnership and knowledge sharing.
