The Communications Commission (ComCom) and the Millennium Foundation are launching a partnership. ComCom will support the Millennium Innovations Award (MIA).

MIA was founded in 2014 with the support of the U.S. Embassy and aims to increase the interest of students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The Award is held every year and consists of a total of three stages. This year, the MediaLab of the Communications Commission will provide professional development training for the finalist teams of the competition. In particular, the finalists of the Millennium Innovation Award will be mentored in the creation and testing of the prototype, as well as in the preparation of the presentation/pitching of their projects to the jury.

Within the framework of the MIA, students aged 13 to 17 can form teams of 2-4 students and submit projects in the following categories: Space and Aviation; cyber technologies and security; Environmental protection, energy and climate change; health care and nutrition; Applied technologies and applications; Robotics.

The Award is implemented by the Millennium Foundation. The first place in the Award will participate in the NASA Space Center University. The second-place holder team will travel to Stanford University a STEM summer camp in the U.S., and third place holders will visit the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland for an educational visit.

At the final stage of the Award, ComCom's MediaLab engagement will significantly help young people improve projects and develop practical skills. This collaboration will be a new opportunity for the Communications Commission to promote STEM education in the country.
