news

The 2025 semi-finals of the Millennium Innovation Award were held on July 3-4, 2025. The semi-finalists presented the projects before the jury of the competition. As a result, the jury selected twelve finalist teams.

The finalist teams will receive funding to create prototypes of the projects presented.

The finals will be held in the fall of 2025 where finalist teams will present prototypes to the jury. The jury will evaluate and select the 2025 winners.

The aim of the Millennium Innovation Award n is to identify teams of students from different schools through the national competition who represent innovative projects in the fields of technology, engineering and natural sciences (STEM).

We congratulate the finalists of 2025 and wish them success at the final stage of the competition!

The finalist teams of the 2025 Millennium Innovation Competition are:

Team

Project Name and Purpose

ArchiGuard

Monitoring of buildings and bridges

The aim of the project is to create an affordable, accurate and real-time system that will be able to continuously monitor the deformations of bridges and buildings.

Armmo

Wearable exoskeleton to restore poststroke, motor impaired functions

The aim of the project is to create a wearable exoskeleton designed for the gradual restoration of the functioning of the upper limb damaged by stroke or physical trauma. The device provides accurate and controlled movements necessary to reactivate the nervous-muscular connection.

BeetKar

Beetkar

The aim of the project is to timely detect and effectively manage one of the most common and dangerous pests in beekeeping - bee tick Varva - through modern technologies.

Clusters

RescuedBy

The RescuedBy project aims to create a drone-based, artificial intelligence-based search and rescue system that ensures the rapid and efficient discovery of missing people in hard-to-reach regions and disaster zones.

Innovation Initiators

MistCharge

The project aims to increase the efficiency of water extraction using electrostatic technology based on the principle developed by MIT: Electrostatically driven fog collection using space charge injection.

Markshaders

Wall crack monitoring system

The project aims to create an automatic wall crack monitoring system that ensures that changes in the width and depth of cracks are fixed by laser distance with millimeter accuracy. The system collects, stores and processes data in real time, creates graphic diagrams according to time changes and automatically sends messages to the server in case of a possible threat, which in turn notifies the relevant entities.

OptiGuide

Optical Guide

The goal of the project is to create a smart device that will help vision impaired individuals to better navigate at home or outdoors.

PAWs

PAWS (Predictive Animal Wellness System)

The goal of PAWS is to timely detect potential problematic conditions in dogs, which allows the owner to respond in a timely manner. PAWS tracks symptoms such as unnatural behavior, weak reaction, thermal overheating, energy loss, epileptic attack, or initial stage of infectious diseases. The app stores all data, analyzes behavioral changes, and helps the owner predict and prevent it in the long run.

RiskTrackers

Early monitoring and research system for natural disasters

The aim of the project is to create an integrated monitoring system that, based on data of the soil movement and precipitation, will be able to predict the dangers of landslides, waterlogging and flooding of water in the valleys. The system provides real-time information about the movement of rocks and hydrological changes necessary to prevent human and economic losses.

Swish

Smart device and multifunctional app for fishermen

The goal of the project is to create a smart device that swims in water and measures different environmental parameters, collects data and transmits them to a mobile application. The app processes the information obtained from the device and gives the fisherman information how favorable the environmental conditions are, how often the movement of fish is observed, whether there is a danger or obstacle, and how much it costs to start fishing in the selected place.

Verdex

AI-optimized hydroponic system

The aim of the project is to create a vertical hydroponic ecosystem that grows plants by means of water instead of land, which is enriched with the necessary minerals and nutrients and allows the plant to fully develop and bear fruit in a short period of time.

Xtinguishers

"BlazeSense - your sixth sense in the smoke"

The aim of the project is to improve the working conditions of firefighters and make it easier for them to navigate in fire.  Smoke generated during the fire significantly limits the area of vision, which prevents firefighters from moving, complicates orientation in space, and prevents people from discovering and saving people in a timely, safe manner. Innovation will help solve this problem.
