Millennium Foundation, in cooperation with Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, launched an information campaign to promote vocational education programs - "Choose your future profession". Within the campaign, the TVET Open Days were organized at four vocational provider institutions around the country. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, open door days were held in accordance with the regulations and mainly online.

The interested parties had the opportunity to get detailed information on new programs that meet modern labour market demands in the following vocational providers: Railway Transport College, IT College, College Phazisi in Poti and Batumi State Martime Academy.

The TVET providers where the Open Door days were held are the beneficiaries of the Millennium Foundation. The Industry-Led Skills and Workforce Development Project was implemented under the US Government Millennium Challenge Corporation II Compact, which supported development of 62 new vocational education programs that meet labor market requirements in the fields of engineering, construction, marine, tourism, information technology, aviation, and agriculture. The colleges have also been equipped with modern laboratories and training simulators. These programs already have about 2,000 graduates. The overall budget for the project was 12 million US dollars.

More than 300 interested parties attended the Open Day events, including the perspective students, industry partners of the TVET providers, academic staff and graduates. The industry partners explained the employment opportunities they offer to graduates, and the recent graduates shared their experience on learning process as well as apprenticeship and employment.

"Our goal was to inform the perspective students and their parents and the community at large, about the important new technical and vocational education programs that provide guaranteed employment and meet the demands of the labor market. We hope as a result of these Open Door Days, perspective students will make wise decisions about their future careers," - said Magda Magradze, CEO of Millennium Foundation.

"Promoting technical and vocational education is extremely important for our country's economy. This is what the National TVET Award competition, funded by the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, serves. Within this competition, open days are held for perspective students to get acquainted what TVET providers are offering in terms of professional programs and employment opportunities across the country," - said Zurab Kervalishvili, General Director of the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation.

Registration for vocational education programs lasts until August 20. Interested candidates can register for vocational programs in colleges, as well as at educational resource centers or online at the following website - www.vet.emis.ge.
